Art Prehistory

I.S.O.T. (Irresistible Spirit Over Time) is an art project that explores famous iconic characters that reborn and exist over time and never die. The idea is to revive the epic women figures of the greatest operas (La Traviata, Carmen, Eugene Onegin) and reflect their nature in nowadays colors and in today’s life.

Here you can take a look at the painting of legendary beauty, symbol of freedom and riot – Carmen. Georges Bizet’s (French composer) searing drama about a free-spirited Gypsy. The opera is based on the novella Carmen (1845) by Prosper Mérimée.
Carmen, as created by Bizet, has become the stereotypical Spanish woman of the 19th century in the popular imagination.
She’s hedonistic, impetuous, hot-tempered, and cold-hearted. She’s lovestruck and a femme fatale at the same time. A woman desired by every man but determined to remain true to herself.

What does this Art say?

The Art shows that time constantly flows, but the character lives forever. The heroine’s passions remain over time and reborn again and again. Time changes and transforms everything, however, human nature is instantly recognizable with all its subtleties. This painting illustrates nowadays Carmen and 19th century Carmen.
Two different worlds, but still one woman.

Passionate temperament, feminine irresistibility, and independence – all this literally screams in the image of Carmen. A force of nature who has become a defining female cultural figure.
